TeenFlight™ 10 – 1/3

On 12/20 we had a big demonstration for the parents with all the different parts clecoed together. Which looks almost like a small boat/canoe.

The presentation started off with the bulkhead. Where the main load bearing landing gear and wings attach. There was some work done on the rear baggage along with the ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) bracket assembly. The ELT bracket is where the ELT will be attached to. It can be triggered manually with a button press inside the cockpit or automatically if the plane has a hard landing.

Some work was also done in the cockpit area on the seat brackets, where the seats will eventually be installed, as well as the seatbelt mounts and the flaperon strut hidden inside the seat brackets. In the front of the cockpit the firewall has had additional sealant put in. Which I touched despite there being notes saying not to touch it. Don’t be like me, don’t do that. For the students working on it, I have great news. You may be working with sealant some more in the future! I’m only kidding, maybe.

There was also work done on the longerongs, sideskins, and the bottom skin of the airplane. Holes were deburred, countersunk. Small routine work, yet important nonetheless.

There is no TeenFlight™ class on the 27th for the holidays but there will be one on January 3rd. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
